Theo báo cáo của UBND Tp HCM, chín tháng đầu năm, kinh tế thành phố tiếp tục giữ vững tốc độ tăng trưởng cao, tổng sản phẩm nội địa đạt 155.600 tỷ đồng, tăng 11.7%. Đây là mức tăng cao nhất trong vòng 4 năm qua. Trong đó tỷ lệ tăng cao nhất thuộc về 4 ngành dịch vụ: tài chính-ngân hàng, du lịch, vận tải cảng và bưu chính viễn thông. Ngoài ra sản xuất nông nghiệp, công nghiệp, huy động vốn đầu tư cho phát triển đề tăng. Về đầu tư trong nước, đã cấp giấy chứng nhận đăng ký kinh doanh cho 12.459 doanh nghiệp với tổng số vốn đăng ký tương đương 6 tỷ đô la. Số lượng doanh nghiệp tăng gấp 3 lần. Đặc biệt với 1.329 tỷ USD vốn đầu tư trực tiếp nước ngoài, thanh phố HCM dẫn đầu cả nước trong lĩnh vực này.
