Như chúng ta đã biết, Nhật Bản là quốc gia mang tên gọi Mặt trời mọc. Không phải bỗng dưng mà nó có tên gọi như vậy. Mitsubishi đã mở văn phòng đại diện tại Việt Nam từ năm 1991, đến nay sau hơn 20 năm hoạt động, Mitsubishi đã có nhiều dự án triển khai tại Việt Nam trên nhiều lĩnh vực, đặc biệt là trong lĩnh vực công nghiệp (máy móc, thiết bị, v.v..) Bên cạnh các hoạt động kinh doanh, Mitsubishi cũng quan tâm tới các hoạt động xã hội thông qua việc cung cấp học bổng thường niên cho sinh viên các trường đại học như Đại học Y Hà Nội, Đại học Kinh tế thành phố Hồ Chí Minh…. Học bổng Mitsubishi đã đồng hành nhiều thế hệ sinh viên gặp hoàn cảnh khó khăn nhưng luôn có ý chí nghị lực vươn lên để dành kết quả cao trong học tập. Đặc biệt, quỹ học bổng là một đơn vị hợp tác uy tín lâu năm của trường Đại học Khoa học Xã hội và Nhân văn nói riêng và Đại học Quốc gia Hà Nội nói chung. Cho đến nay với hơn 19 năm thiết lập quan hệ hợp tác giữa hai bên, Quỹ học bổng Ngân hàng Tokyo – Mitsubishi đã trao gần 700 suất học bổng cho sinh viên Đại học Quốc gia Hà Nội. Lần gần đây nhất, Ngày 20/01/2014, Đại học Quốc gia Hà Nội phối hợp với Quỹ học bổng Ngân hàng Tài chính Thống nhất Nhật Bản (Bank of Tokyo Mitsubishi) đã trao 30 suất học bổng cho sinh viên có thành tích học tập tốt năm học 2013 – 2014 của Đại học Quốc gia Hà Nội.
Học bổng Mitsubishi do Ngân hàng thống nhất Nhật Bản - Ngân hàng Tokyo Mitsubishi (Bank of Tokyo Mitsubishi) tài trợ. Chương trình học bổng quốc tế Mitsubishi là một trong những chương trình trợ giúp giáo dục mà tập đoàn Mitsubishi đã và đang mang đến cho sinh viên các nước, trong đó có sinh viên Việt Nam. Mỗi năm có rất nhiều suất học bổng Mitsubishi được trao tặng cho các sinh viên nghèo vượt khó, học giỏi và tích cực tham gia các hoạt động cộng đồng. Ngoài ra quỹ học bổng cũng dành cho một số đối tượng sinh viên những suất học bổng toàn thần. Theo đó, sinh viên sẽ được du học tại đất nước Nhật Bản và có nhiều cơ hội tìm hiểu về đất nước Mặt trời mọc.
Đối tượng mà Quỹ học bổng Mishubishi hướng tới là sinh viên có kết quả học tập đạt loại Giỏi và kết quả rèn luyện đạt loại Tốt trở lên. Mỗi suất học bổng trị giá 310 USD và có khoảng 40 suất mỗi năm. Thời gian nhận hồ sơ thường là tháng 7 hàng năm và thời gian nhận học bổng là sau một tháng.
