Tiếp viên hàng không là một công việc  đảm bảo an toàn trên mỗi chuyến bay và cung cấp các dịch vụ cần thiết trên tàu bay cho hành khách
nhiệm vụ quan trọng nhất với một tiếp viên hàng không là đảm bao an toàn cho hành khách . Cung cấp cho khách hàng các thông tin về lối thoát hiểm , hướng dẫn chành khách đồng thời  phối hợp cùng phi hành đoàn sử lý các hình huống diễn ra trên máy bay . Bên cạnh đó nhiệm vụ của tiếp viên hàng không là phục vụ hướng dẫn khách vị trí chỗ ngồi , cung cấp phục vụ cho khách hàng các bữa ăn điều chỉnh ánh sáng chỗ ngồi cũng như cung cấp các thông tin cần thiết cho khách hàng .
Tính chất của công việc là linh hoạt có nhiều sự thay đổi về địa điểm và thời gian .
