Tăng trưởng kinh tế là sự gia tăng về lượng kết quả đầu ra của nền kinh tế trong một thời kì (thường là năm) nhất định so với kì gốc (năm gốc). Sự gia tăng đó được thể hiện cả ở quy mô và tốc độ. Quy mô tăng trưởng phản ánh sự gia tăng tuyệt đối, trong khi đó tốc độ tăng trưởng thể hiện sự so sánh tương đối giữa các thời kì (năm).
