Công nghệ là điểm yếu trong việc phát triển hệ thống website cũng như là ngành công nghiệp du lịch tại Việt Nam. Ngoài sự yếu kém về công nghệ, về mặt nội dung thì trang web của DMO tại Việt Nam vẫn chưa thật sự là hiệu quả và thiếu chuyên nghiệp.
Nếu nhìn vào những giao diện của DMO các nước có nền du lịch phát triển như Thái Lan, Nhật Bản, Úc, những giao diện của trang web rất rõ ràng và người sử dụng dễ dàng tiếp cận được. Ngoài ra đó chính là chủ đề của trang web được thiết kế đồng nhất và xuyên suốt. Về mặt chủ đề chính của trang web thì Việt Nam vẫn chưa thật sự đồng nhất về hình ảnh cũng như màu sắc chủ đạo, việc sử dụng màu sắc không hợp lý tạo nên sự mất cân đối và rối mắt cho người sử dụng.
