During the first world war, she campaigned to have the mobile x-ray machines to treat wounded soldiers. Shortly after the war began, she was sold to the Nobel Prize made of gold and her husband's to help in the war effort. In 1921, she came to the United States to raise funds in the study of radium and hospitality. She died near Sallanches, France in 1934
