Hóa chất tẩy gỉ RR – 04 được đặc chế để tẩy gỉ cục bộ trên bề mặt chi tiết có kích thước lớn rất tiện lợi và không nhất thiết phải nhúng cả chi tiết vào bể tẩy gỉ vì hơn nửa không phải lúc nào cũng có thể nhúng được. Hóa chất tẩy gỉ RR – 04 có tính acid khá mạnh, tuy vậy nó không làm phỏng da khi dính phải. Hóa chất RR – 04 dễ dàng tẩy được lớp gỉ mỏng bằng phương pháp lau chùi bằng giẻ chùi soong, nếu cần thiết kết hợp với bàn chải sắt.
Sau khi lau sạch lớp gỉ sét chi tiết không cần rửa lại nước. Bề mặt đã được tẩy gỉ không bị tái gỉ trở lại trong vòng 2 – 3 ngày, vì sau khi khô trên bề mặt hình thành lớp màng bảo vệ, lớp màng này dễ dàng rửa sạch bằng dung dịch tẩy dầu hoặc dung môi khác khi xử lý ở công đoạn sau.
