Năm 2014, mức vốn điều lệ được giữ ổn định như năm 2013 là 28.112 tỷ đồng. Ở năm 2015 sau khi sáp nhập với MHB, BIDV chính thức tăng vốn điều lệ lên 34.187 tỷ đồng, tăng thêm 6.075 tỷ đồng. Với sự kiện sáp nhập này, BIDV hiện vẫn là ngân hàng đứng thứ hai về vốn điều lệ trong hệ thống ngân hàng Việt Nam hiện nay, sau Ngân hàng TMCP Ngoại thương Việt Nam Vietcombank với số vốn lên tới 37.234 tỷ đồng
