Thực trạng ô nhiễm môi trường không khí trên Thế giới.
Theo báo cáo lần đầu tiên của Tổ chức Y tế Thế giới (WHO) vừa được công bố ngày 26/9 tại Giơnevơ, Thụy Sĩ, về thông số chất lượng không khí tại nhiều quốc gia trên thế giới, cho rằng ô nhiễm không khí trên thế giới đã ở mức nguy hại đối với sức khỏe con người.
(Nghiên cứu này thu thập các mẫu không khí của gần 1100 thành phố tại 91 quốc gia trên thế giới, trong đó có các thủ đô và các thành phố có số dân trên 100.000 người.)
Bên cạnh đó,theo thống kê của tổ chức y tế Thế giới (WHO), hằng năm trên thế giới có khoảng 2 triệu trẻ em bị tử vong do nhiễm khuẩn đường hô hấp cấp, 60% trường hợp có liên quan đến ô nhiễm không khí.
Ở Trung Quốc,tình trạng ô nhiễm không khí trong nhà gây nên những hội chứng xấu ở đường hô hấp và nhiều bệnh khác khiến khoảng 2,2 triệu dân tử vong mỗi năm, trong đó có một triệu người dưới 5 tuổi.
Một báo cáo của Ngân hàng Thế giới vào năm 2007 cho thấy 750.000 dân Trung Quốc chết sớm mỗi năm do ô nhiễm không khí và ô nhiễm nước.
