Tháng 03/2013, Samsung Electronics Việt Nam Thái Nguyên (SEVT) chi 2 tỉ USD để xây dựng khu tổ hợp công nghệ cao tại Thái Nguyên. Đến tháng 10, Samsung Electro - Mechanics Vietnam cũng tuyên bố rót tiếp 1.2 tỉ USD vào nhà máy sản xuất vi mạch và linh kiện điện tử cho điện thoại di động tại đây. Tiếp đến cuối 2014 SamSung Display chính thức đi vào hoạt động tại tổ hợp công nghệ KCN yên Phong- Bắc Ninh. Công ty điện tử Samsung đang đưa dần các nhà máy sản xuất điện thoại từ Trung Quốc sang Việt Nam để bảo toàn lợi nhuận. Samsung Electronics được hưởng ưu đãi cao nhất như là một doanh nghiệp công nghệ cao khi đầu tư vào Việt Nam. Tuy nhiên đó không phải là lý do duy nhất thu hút Samsung, mà còn là vị trí địa lý. Indonesia và Ấn Độ có mức thuế ngang bằng, thậm chí còn tốt hơn mức của Việt Nam, nhưng do Việt Nam gần hơn cả với khu công nghiệp đã sẵn có của Samsung ở Trung Quốc và Nam Hàn, nên đây là một điểm mạnh.
