According to the UNDP rankings, within 11 years, from 1991 to 2002, human development index (HDI) of Vietnam from below average (.498 in 1991) increased average (.688 in 2002).
Vietnam's HDI hierarchy beyond 19, 2002, ranked No. 109/173, while per capita GDP ranked No. 128/173. The data demonstrates that, Vietnam, although classified as developing countries, but the economic development of Vietnam tend to serve human development; Vietnam is the assurance of progress and social justice higher than some developing countries have a per capita GDP better than Vietnam.
