Từ năm 2018 Việt Nam chỉ còn được duy trì thuế nhập khẩu với mức thuế suất tối đa là 5% đối với khoảng 3% số dòng thuế, bao gồm phần lớn là các mặt hàng nông nghiệp nhạy cảm (gia cầm sống, thịt già, trứng gia cầm, quả có múi, thóc, gạo lứt, thịt chế biến, đường). Hai nhóm mặt hàng có lộ tình cam kết dài và chưa có lộ trình là xăng dầu (đến năm 2024) và thuốc lá (sẽ phải đưa ra lộ trình cắt giảm trong tương lai gần).
