HS ở đây chủ yếu bị khiếm thính, khiếm thị, chậm phát triển trí tuệ... Để dạy học ở đây không phải bất kỳ ai cũng có thể làm được bởi ngoài tình yêu thương còn phải có tính kiên trì, nhẫn nại và chịu khổ thì mới có thể gắn bó với nghề lâu được.
Đối với HS khiếm thính, khả năng nghe, nói bị hạn chế nhưng các em tiếp thu bài nhanh. Còn với các em khó khăn về học, chậm phát triển trí tuệ (thường là bệnh Down) đã chậm tiếp thu và cũng nhanh quên nên việc dạy các em thường mất nhiều thời gian và công sức. Đặc biệt, tính cách của các em nhiều khi không được ổn định hay ức chế nên có nhiều em cãi lại cô giáo.
Các em dù không được hoàn chỉnh như bao bạn khác nhưng lại rất chăm chỉ học tập. Còn một số người, có đầy đủ nhưng lại không biết quý trọng, không cố gắng học tập
