Đài phát thanh, truyền thanh địa phương là phương tiện chủ yếu phục vụ cho sự phát triển kinh tế, xã hội ở địa phương đó. Đài tuyên truyền các chủ trương của Đảng, Nhà nước; phổ biến kiến thức, kinh nghiệm thực tế; các biện pháp phòng tránh bệnh dịch, lũ lụt; biểu dương người tốt việc tốt; phê phán cái xấu, cái tiêu cực.
