Absolute ethics: dựa theo tiêu chuẩn quy định về đạo Đức và luật pháp dựa trên nguyên tắc, không thể thay đổi theo tình hình hoặc văn hóa và áp dụng trên mỗi cá nhân.
Relative ethics: nguyên tắc đạo Đức toàn cầu không tồn tại và việc nó đúng hoặc sai theo tiêu chuẩn đạo đức khác nhau phụ thuộc vào tình hình, văn hóa... phán đoán là rất linh hoạt dựa trên hoàn cảnh cụ thể.
