ê Thái Tổ (10 tháng 9, 1385[2] - 5 tháng 9, 1433), tên thật là Lê Lợi , là người khởi xướng khởi nghĩa Lam Sơn chiến thắng quân đội chiếm đóng nhà Minh, giành lại độc lập cho nước Đại Việt và trở thành vị vua sáng lập của nhà Hậu Lê.

Ông ở ngôi trong 6 năm (1428 - 1433), đặt niên hiệu Thuận Thiên. Là người sáng lập ra triều đại, ông được ca ngợi khi đánh đuổi được nhà Minh, xây dựng lại khoa cử, luật lệ, chế tác lễ nhạc, thu thập lại sách vở, mở mang trường học... tạo nên một triều đại Hậu Lê huy hoàng trong lịch sử. Tuy nhiên, sự đa nghi của ông là chỗ kém, khi đã giết chết đại công thần Trần Nguyên Hãn và Phạm Văn Xảo.[3][4]

Lê Thái Tổ cũng là nhân vật trong truyền thuyết Hồ Gươm, một sự tích nổi tiếng trong dân gian Việt Nam, kể lại quá trình ông có được thanh kiếm thần, tương truyền được thần nhân ban xuống để giúp ông chống lại quân đội nhà Minh.
