Tuy nhiên, đối với các doanh nghiệp đang hoạt động trong các ngành mà Việt Nam không có lợi thế so sánh, thì việc nỗ lực không phải lúc nào cũng đem lại các kết quả như mong muốn. Các doanh nghiệp này cần chuẩn bị cho việc chuyển đổi sang các ngành khác mà Việt Nam có lợi thế so sánh.

Tóm lại, khi gia nhập AEC, Việt Nam có cơ hội nhận được nhiều vốn hơn để tạo nhiều việc làm hơn cho các lao động giá rẻ. Nhưng điều này cũng đồng nghĩa với việc người nước ngoài sẽ tham gia kiểm soát các hoạt động kinh tế ở Việt Nam nhiều hơn.
