There is evidence that the brains of women and men are further differentiated during adolescence. In adolescence, girls tend to show more hemispheric communication than boys, which may promote the connectivity between subcortical regions related to analysis and intuitive processing, in which boys show more hemispheric communication than girls (Koob and White,2017; Ingalhalikar et al. , 2014). Although the influence of these differences on behavior is not clear, these differences in corticoid function during adolescence are likely to help to observe that girls are more likely to drink alcohol to regulate negative effects. These differences in brain morphology also continue to appear in adulthood, which indicates that adult women have more gray matter in the middle prefrontal cortex (PFC), which is an important area for regulating executive function, while there is more gray matter in the anterior cingulate cortex and more gray matter in pleasure and impulsive activities (Koob and White,2017; Ruigrok et al. , 2014). These gender differences in human brain structure are likely to change the gender differences in the AUD cycle, including maintenance and recovery (Koob and Volkow,2016). Protecting the living environment is a global hot issue, and the whole international community is working together to improve this situation.
