Trong quy trình tín dụng,bước chuẩn bị cho vay rất quan trọng(khách hàng nhập hồ sơ vay vồn). Bao gồm 3 giai đoạn: khai thác và tìm kiếm khách hàng; hướng dẫn khách hàng về điều kiện tín dụng và thành lập hồ sơ vay; phân tích thẩm định khách hàng và phương án, dự án vay vốn. Chất lượng tín dụng tuỳ thuộc nhiều vào chất lượng công tác thẩm định và quy định về điều kiện, thủ tục cho vay của từng ngân hàng thương mại.
