Sức ép lên ngành bán lẻ của Anh gia tăng, khi theo báo cáo mới nhất của hãng kiểm toán PwC và công ty nghiên cứu dữ liệu Local Data Company, trong sáu tháng đầu năm 2016, có tới 2.656 cửa hiệu tại các tuyến phố buôn bán lớn phải đóng cửa, tương đương 15 cửa hiệu mỗi ngày.

Trong khi đó, số cửa hiệu mới mở cũng đứng ở mức thấp nhất trong 5 năm trở lại đây, giảm từ con số 2.197 xuống còn 2.153. Các chuỗi cửa hiệu bán lẻ truyền thống vốn tọa lạc tại các tuyến phố buôn bán sầm uất trung tâm tại Vương quốc Anh đang phải “nhường chỗ" cho các cửa hàng bán đồ giảm giá hay cửa hàng cà phê.
