Phố cổ Hội An là một đô thị cổ nằm ở hạ lưu sông Thu Bồn, thuộc vùng đồng bằng ven biển tỉnh Quảng Nam, Việt Nam, cách thành phố Đà Nẵng khoảng 30 km về phía Nam.
Từ thế kỷ 16 đến 19, Hội An từng là trung tâm mậu dịch quốc tế trên hành trình thương mại Đông - Tây, một thương cảng phồn thịnh nhất của xứ Đàng Trong - Việt Nam trong triều đại các chúa Nguyễn bởi thương thuyền từ Nhật Bản, Trung Hoa, Bồ Đào Nha, Tây Ban Nha, Hà Lan ... thường đến đây để trao đổi, mua bán hàng hoá. Trong lịch sử hình thành và phát triển, Hội An đã được thế giới biết đến dưới nhiều tên gọi khác nhau. Phổ biến nhất là: Faifo, Haisfo, Hoài phố, Ketchem, Cotam. Các di chỉ khảo cổ và các hiện vật, công trình kiến trúc còn lưu lại đã chứng minh Hội An là nơi hội tụ, giao thoa giữa nhiều nền văn hoá: Chăm, Việt, Trung Hoa, Nhật Bản ... trong đó chịu sự ảnh hưởng nhiều nhất của văn hoá Việt và Trung.
