Ngày nay khi thời đại của máy tính điện tử phát triển và tạo ra cuộc cách mạng bùng nổ thông tin trên toàn cầu, thành tựu mà nó đạt được quả thật là điều không tưởng trước đây, vậy có khi nào bạn tự hỏi tương lai của những cỗ máy tính sẽ ra sao trong tương lai?
Máy tính điện tử là phương tiện làm việc tuyệt vời và hiệu quả nhất, giúp con người hiểu sâu vào thế giới tự nhiên và giúp con người liên lạc với nhau một cách dễ dàng. Song nó vẫn có những sự hạn chế riêng như: tốc độ tính toán có giới hạn, kết quả tính toán vẫn chưa đạt các yêu cầu chuyên sâu, việc dùng năng lượng cho máy tính còn yêu cầu khá lớn. Vậy máy tính trong tương lai sẽ theo hướng cơ bản nào?
Tốc độ phát triển của máy tính cực kỳ nhanh. Trong khi người ta chưa hình dung máy tính thế hệ thứ tư sẽ như thế nào thì 1981, Nhật bản đã đưa ra một chương trình đầy tham vọng, cuốn hút các cường quốc máy tính vào một dự án chế tạo máy tính thế hệ thứ năm. Ngay khi việc nghiên cứu thế hệ thứ 5 đang triển khai thì người ta đã nghĩ đến máy tính thế hệ thứ 6 hoạt động theo nguyên lý sinh học. Đến nay người ta chưa hiểu nhiều về nguyên lý xử lý thông tin của bộ não tuy vậy một mô hình xử lý dựa trên sự lan truyền tín hiệu của mạng neuron đã đưọc xây dựng, một số thử nghiệm về các chất hữu cơ có hiệu ứng bán dẫn cũng đã được xem xét. Một số kết quả ban đầu về mạng neuron đã đưa vào ứng dụng như các máy y tế, các máy phát hiện chất nổ tại các sân bay, các thiết bị nhận dạng trong quân sự.
Đây quả thực là hướng máy tính hoàn toàn mới, nguyên lý loại máy tính này là dựa vào các thông tin của các phân tử hữu cơ có khả năng xử lý thông tin, kết hợp với các phân tử có khả năng “hiểu” và nhập các thông tin đầu vào, với khả năng kết hợp này thì sẽ tạo ra loại máy tính có khả năng học hỏi như con người là hoàn toàn có thể. Có thể phá vỡ việc con người sẽ phải lập trình cho máy tính, lúc này máy tính có khả năng xử lý thông tin và tự đưa ra kết quả dựa vào các kết quả tính toán các “kinh nghiệm” mà loại máy tính này xử lý. Ngoài các xu hướng trên, có thể tồn tại các xu hướng tạo máy tính mới hoàn toàn khác xa với các phát triển của máy tính trong tương lai tôi đã đề cập! Cùng với sự tiến bộ về các phương thức truyền thông tin giữa các máy tính, khả năng việc sử dụng các máy tính điện tử sẽ ngày một ít thay vào đó là các máy tính mới với nguyên lý khác, sẽ tạo ra bước tiến không tưởng của con người trong tương lai!
