Quy hoạch ĐTTX là công tác quan trọng, giúp nhà quản lý, các bộ phận giúp việc có liên quan nắm được thực trạng tình hình đào tạo, nhu cầu đào tạo theo giai đoạn; khả năng đáp ứng và sự chuẩn bị của CSĐT. Thông qua quy hoạch, CSĐT có cơ sở khoa học đề xuất các nội dung, yêu cầu các cấp quản lý Nhà nước, quản lý về GD&ĐT, địa phương để được quan tâm, hỗ trợ. Kết quả khảo sát 24 ĐVLK; 30 CSSDNL; 03 CSĐT về việc xây dựng quy hoạch ĐTTX đáp ứng nhu cầu nhân lực trình độ ĐH vùng ĐBSCL về thực trạng tầm quan trọng và kết quả thực hiện trong thời gian qua, ở cả 3 nội dung khảo sát đều được đánh giá là tầm quan trọng cao với điểm trung bình chung là 2,53 điểm và kết quả thực hiện đạt 2,07 điểm.
