In the past few years, there has been a growing protest of the actions of some US police, and police departments across the country have discovered that their image was quite a hit. the public relations department of the New York Police Department, somehow does not seem to know anything about this, or even more than not, they just expect the internet to take the high road. However, on April 22, 2014, they launched a campaign to #myNYPD following tweet: "You have a picture w / a member of the NYPD? Tweet us & it #myNYPD card. It can be featured on our Facebook. " their hope is that people will send their friendly image with the police. But, of course, no one did. Instead, they posted photographs depicting the brutality at the hands of NYPD officers, including their images processed by the protesters at Occupy Wall Street protests. At one point, there were 10,000 posts each hour with the card #MyNYPD and a huge majority of them did not make the NYPD look particularly good. Within 24 hours, more than 70,000 entries using tags #myNYPD about police brutality, shooting unarmed people, corruption and the more famous acts committed by the NYPD. NYPD has tried to salvage the campaign retweeting images they like, but the overwhelming negative tweet bring more international attention to the problems faced with the problem of public relations.
