Miyama is made up of many small version are scattered around the foot of the mountain. Most of the homes here are surrounded by gardens, residents are mostly old people living by farming. We never see the silhouette of young or the children in the village. One of the House open to visitors as a museum which displays ethnic Sato – the traditional tools and household items daily from decades past, as well as a few photos of the building and roof maintenance. Not far from the Museum is the Museum of Sato Indigo Little-a building thatched roofs have been converted into the library. Other than the majority of other areas in Japan, visitors will not find the supermarket or convenience store here.
