Các chứng từ hợp lệ bao gồm: hóa đơn tài chính, hóa đơn bán lẻ, giấy biên nhận…trên hóa đơn tài chính phải có đầy đủ các thông tin như: ngày/tháng/năm phát sinh; tên, địa chỉ, mã số thuế của người bán và người mua, nội dung thanh toán, chữ ký và dấu; các chứng từ hợp lệ không được tẩy xóa hoặc sửa chữa. Các hóa đơn giá trị gia tăng, chứng từ hợp lệ khác được luật thuế chấp nhận: bảng kê, giấy biên nhận, vé tàu xe… chỉ được coi là hợp lệ nếu năm trên chứng từ trong năm hạch toán kế toán.
