Theo báo cáo của Tổ chức Lương thực và Nông nghiệp Liên Hợp Quốc (FAO), mức tiêu dùng sữa bình quân đầu người của Việt Nam chỉ đạt 15 lít/năm chỉ bằng 1/4 nhu cầu cần có và khá thấp so với nhiều nước trong khu vực và thế giới, như Thái Lan (34 lít/năm), Trung Quốc (25 lít/năm) và Anh (112 lít/năm)
