Vốn điều lệ được sử dụng để xây dựng, mua sắm tài sản cố định, các phương tiện làm việc và quản lý. Ngoài ra các ngân hàng thương mại còn được phép sử dụng vốn điều lệ để hùn vốn, liên doanh, cấp vốn cho các công ty trực thuộc và thực hiện các hoạt động kinh doanh dịch vụ khác của ngân hàng.
