Tòa án Tanzania tuyên phạt Việt Nam 2 triệu USD bao gồm tiền bồi thường thiệt hại từ hợp đồng gạo và tiền lãi phát sinh.
Theo tòa án, quyền miễn trừ tư pháp của Việt Nam trong trường hợp này không tuyệt đối vì Chính phủ Việt Nam đã tham gia tích cực vào các giai đoạn của việc thực hiện hợp đồng. Vì vậy, Chính phủ Việt Nam không được hưởng quyền miễn trừ xét xử
