Theo ông Vũ Anh Tuấn, Trưởng phòng dự báo hạn ngắn (Trung tâm dự báo Khí tượng Thủy văn Quốc gia), trận mưa đêm ngày 24 kéo dài đến sáng ngày 25/5 được xem là trận mưa lớn nhất lịch sử trong cùng kỳ tháng 5 suốt từ năm 1971 đến nay.
