* Quá trình phát triển:
-Tên gọi phòng Quản lý nội trú chính thức được thành lập năm 1999, trở thành đơn vị độc lập về chuyên môn, có chức năng nhiệm vụ cụ thể.
-Tháng 8 năm 2004, Hiệu trưởng quyết định sát nhập với đơn vị phòng Bảo vệ thành đơn vị mới: phòng Bảo vệ - Nội trú nhằm giảm bớt bộ máy cồng kềnh của Nhà trường và hỗ trợ nhau trong công tác.
-Trước năm 1999, quy mô các khu ký túc xá của trường Đại học Quy Nhơn còn nhỏ, quản lý nội trú chỉ là một bộ phận của phòng Hành chính-Quản trị, bộ máy nhân sự chưa rõ ràng, còn mang tính kiêm nhiệm, chưa chuyên trách.
-Nhiệm kỳ 1999-2003, phòng chuyên trách Quản lý nội trú chính thức được thành lập và bắt đầu thực hiện chức năng nhiệm vụ của đơn vị.
-Năm 2010, Hiệu trưởng ký đặt tên mới: Trung tâm Quản lý Ký túc xá
-Để phù hợp chức năng nhiệm vụ, ngày 16 tháng 01 năm 2015 đơn vị đổi tên thành Phòng Quản lý Ký túc xá, trực thuộc Trường Đại học Quy Nhơn
* Cơ sở vật chất:
-Trước năm 1995, Trường có 3 khu kí túc xá : OA, OB và khu 4 tầng, với tổng số 188 phòng ở và bố trí được 2000 chỗ. Cuối năm 1996, do quy mô phát triển, nhu cầu chỗ ở của sinh viên ngày càng tăng, nhà trường hợp đồng với Quân đoàn 3 tại địa chỉ số 08 đường Cao Thắng thành phố Quy nhơn để làm chỗ ở nội trú. Tại đây có 30 phòng với sức chứa 450 chỗ và được đặt tên là khu nội trú Quân đoàn 3, cách trường khoảng 3 km.
-Năm 1997, trường xây mới một kí túc xá được đặt tên là kí túc xá C3, là khối nhà 5 tầng với 60 phòng có sức ở 720 chỗ.
-Cũng trong năm 1997, trường thuê thêm doanh trại quân đội tại địa chỉ 170 đường Diên Hồng, thành phố Quy Nhơn với sức ở 600 chỗ và đặt tên khu nội trú Diên Hồng, cách trường khoảng 1km.
-Năm 2001, hai khu kí túc xá OA và OB chuyển đổi mục đích sử dụng. Do chỗ ở bị giảm bớt, nhà trường đề nghị Bộ Giaos Dục Đào Tạo xây thêm một khu kí túc xá mới, cuối năm 2001 thì hoàn thành với 62 phòng, sức ở 740 chỗ và đặt tên kí túc xá C5.
-Năm 2003, nhà trường đồng thời cho khởi công xây dựng 2 khu kí túc xá mới là C4 và C6. Sau một năm thì hoàn thành đưa vào sử dụng với sức ở 1560 chỗ.
-Năm 2004. Hợp đồng thuê 2 khu nội trú với quân đội hết hạn. Tính đến tháng 12 năm 2004, trường đại học Quy Nhơn có 5 khu kí túc xá, tổng số 298 phòng với sức chứa khoảng 3500 chỗ.
-Tháng 9/ 2006, tiếp tục khởi công xây dựng khu kí túc xá C1, tháng 10/2007 hoàn thành với tổng số 92 phòng ở, sức chứa 1024 chỗ ở.
-Như vậy sau khi đưa kí túc xá C1 vào hoạt động, nâng tổng số lên 6 khu kí túc xá, với 380 phòng ở, sức ở tối đa khoảng 4400 chỗ.
-Khu Ký túc xá sinh viên tọa lạc trong khuôn viên Trường Đại học Quy Nhơn. Với vị trí như vậy nên rất thuận lợi cho sinh viên về đời sống sinh hoạt và học tập khi ở trong khu kí túc xá. Từ nơi ở kí túc xá đến giảng đường học tập đi bộ chưa được 10 phút.
*Hệ thống 6 khu kí túc xá nối liền
-Với 6 khối nhà từ 4 đến 6 tầng được đặt tên từ kí túc xá C1, C2, C3, C4, C5, C6 .Tổng số 380 phòng ở tương đương 4400 chỗ ở cho sinh viên. Các phòng ở đều được xây dựng khép kín theo tiêu chuẩn của Bộ giáo dục và đạo tạo (công trình WC, nhà tắm đều nằm trong phòng ở)
-Hiện tại Nhà trường đang bố trí 12 sinh viên/1 phòng, một số phòng bố trí 8 sinh viên/1 phòng. Kế hoạch trong những năm học tới, Nhà trường sẽ giảm số lượng sinh viên/ phòng để tăng chất lượng phục vụ và tạo điều kiện để sinh viên nội trú có chỗ ở tốt nhất. Đối với những sinh viên có nhu cầu bao phòng ở kí túc xá, phòng quản lí kí túc xá sẽ đáp ứng nguyện vọng.
-Nhà trường đã và đang trang bị Internet không dây đến từng kí túc xá, thuận tiện cho sinh viên truy cập mạng cũng như việc đăng ký các học phần trong năm học.
-Cũng trong năm học này, các đơn vị chức năng đang khẩn trương trang bị hệ thống dẫn nước máy vào từng phòng ở kí túc xá để sinh viên có nước sạch dùng.
*Công tác quản lý
-Công tác quản lý sinh viên của phòng chức năng Quản lý kí túc xá với nhiều ưu điểm
Sinh viên khi có nhu cầu vào ở kí túc xá đều phải làm Hồ sơ sinh viên ở kí túc xá: Việc làm hồ sơ sinh viên nhằm mục đích quản lý sinh viên nội trú chặt chẽ hơn
-Hồ sơ gồm:
+Hợp đồng ở kí túc xá và cam kết chấp hành đúng nội dung ghi trong Hợp đồng
+Có trích ngang lý lịch sinh viên, có ảnh kèm theo
+Chấp hành nội quy kí túc xá.
-Sinh viên được bố trí ở theo giá tiền, phù hợp chất lượng phòng ở. Mỗi kí túc xá được thiết lập sổ ảnh và hình ảnh được thể hiện độc lập từng phòng, có thông tin về từng thành viên (học ngành, khóa…)
-Mỗi kí túc xá có 2 nhân viên luân phiên thường trực 24/24 đảm bảo công tác an ninh trật tự, giám sát quản lý sinh viên ra vào cửa kí túc xá, quản lý tài sản, thiết bị công nghệ..
-Mỗi kí túc xá có 01 nhân viên vệ sinh môi trường, thường xuyên dọn dẹp khu vực kí túc xá, đem lại môi trường sạch sẽ cho sinh viên ở nội trú.
