Theo sử sách, chùa Hang hay còn gọi là chùa Hương Nghiêm, thuộc xã An Khang (Tp Tuyên Quang). Đây là ngôi chùa cổ được dựng năm Đại chính thứ 8 (Thế kỷ XVI), đời Thái Tông Mạc Đăng Doanh (1537).
