1.2 Cơ sở thực tiễn.
a. Sơ lược về các bài học trong sách giáo khoa Tiếng Anh 12.
Chương trình sách giáo khoa Tiếng Anh 12, có 16 bài (hiện nay giảm tải 2 bài – Unit 7 và Unit 9) tương ứng với 16 bài học là 16 chủ đề khác nhau trong đó có những chủ đề khá quen thuộc và gần gũi với các môn học khác (Ví dụ chủ đề Home life, Culture diversity, School education system, Higher eduction, Books, có nội dung kiến thức gần gũi với môn Văn, chủ đề Endangered species có mối liên hệ với môn Sinh. Chủ đề Water sports, The 22nd SEA Games có chung kiến thức nền với môn Thể Dục,chủ đề International organizations có chung kiến thức nền từ môn Lịch Sử, Địa Lý.
b. Thực trạng của việc dạy và học Ngoại Ngữ trường PTDTNT tỉnh hiện nay.
Qua trò chuyện, trao đổi với đồng nghiệp cũng như khảo sát 62 học sinh lớp 12C1,2 tôi nhận thấy thực trạng của việc dạy và học ngoại ngữ của trường PTDT nội trú Tỉnh như sau:
 Về phía giáo viên
Đa số giáo viên của trường có chuyên môn cao, nhiệt tình trong công tác, ham học hỏi.. Tuy nhiên một số giáo viên còn rụt rè trong đổi mới phương pháp, không dám thay đổi hoặc thiết kế lại sách giáo khoa, chưa tìm ra được nhiều phương pháp khác nhau để làm mới các bài giải. Cá biệt còn có một số ít giáo viên còn cho rằng dạy ngoại ngữ chỉ cần dạy từ vựng, cấu trúc và dạy học sinh cách làm bài để học sinh đạt kết quả cao trong các kỳ thi.
 Về phía học sinh:
• Ưu điểm:
Thứ nhất: Các em học sinh lớp 12 đã tiếp cận 3 năm học với kiến thức chương trình bậc THPT. Không còn bỡ ngỡ, lạ lẫm với những hình thức kiểm tra, đánh giá mà giáo viên đề ra.
Thứ hai: Các em đã có kiến thức rất sâu, rộng về các vấn đề tài nguyên thiên nhiên, môi trường, xã hội, và các vấn đề về kinh tế chính trị trong nước cũng như ngoài nước thông qua các môn như Địa lý, Lịch sử, Văn học, ....
Thứ ba: Trong các môn học như môn Văn học, Lịch sử, Địa lí… các em đã được tìm hiểu về kiến thức nhiều môn được tích hợp trong các bài học. Vì vậy khi cần thiết kết hợp kiến thức của một môn học nào đó vào bộ môn Ngoại Ngữ để giải quyết một vấn đề trong bài học, các em sẽ không cảm thấy bỡ ngỡ.
• Nhược điểm:
Theo thống kê từ đợt khảo sát đầu năm, 65% học sinh cho rằng Tiếng Anh là một môn học khó, muốn học giỏi bộ môn này cần phải học thuộc nhiều từ vựng và cấu trúc và chỉ cần học đơn lẻ không cần tích hợp đối với môn học nào.
Từ cơ sở lý luận và cơ sở thực tiễn trên tôi thấy tích hợp trong giảng dạy sẽ giúp học sinh phát huy sự suy nghĩ, tư duy, sự sáng tạo trong học tập và ứng dụng vào thực tiễn. Vì vậy đối với bản thân tôi, trong những năm vừa qua đặc biệt là năm học 2014 – 2015 này tôi đã mạnh dạn áp dụng một số giải pháp dạy học tích hợp liên môn để nhằm tạo hứng thú cũng như giúp các em biết vận dụng kiến thức của các môn học khác như Lịch Sử, Địa Lý,Thể Dục vào học Ngoại Ngữ để giờ học Ngoại Ngữ đạt được hiệu quả cao hơn.
