Nội dung: nguyên tắc này đòi hỏi người giáo viên phải nắm và vận dụng được những thành tựu khoa học giáo dục mầm non nói chung và khoa học phương pháp hình thành biểu tượng toán cho trẻ nói riêng vào quá trình dạy trẻ. Cần lựa chọn nội dung dạy học có tính logic và tính khoa học, phù hợp với mục tiêu dạy học và phù hợp với đặc điểm nhận thức của trẻ.
Biện pháp thực hiện nguyên tắc:
- Xây dựng nội dung chương trình trên cơ sở của những khoa học có liên quan như: toán học, tâm lí học mầm non, giáo dục học mầm non…

- Cần đảm bảo tính chính xác và tính khoa học về tất cả mọi mặt như: ngôn ngữ, kí hiệu, kiến thức, suy luận.
