JETRO cũng cho rằng, RCEP sẽ đem lại lợi ích to lớn cho ngành dệt may của Việt Nam. Cụ thể, với FTA ASEAN- Nhật Bản, hàng may mặc Việt Nam khi xuất khẩu vào Nhật Bản phải được làm từ nguyên phụ liệu vải có xuất xứ tại ASEAN và Nhật Bản. Trong khi đó, hiện có hơn 33% nguyên phụ liệu dệt may của Việt Nam được nhập khẩu từ Trung Quốc. Nhưng nếu RCEP có hiệu lực, hàng may mặc Việt Nam được sản xuất từ nguyên phụ liệu của Trung Quốc cũng được hưởng ưu đãi thuế quan khi xuất khẩu sang thị trường Nhật Bản, bởi Trung Quốc cũng là thành viên trong RCEP.
