Chiến lược tiếp cận thị trường tiền tệ (hay thị trường vốn ngắn hạn): Chiến lược này đòi hỏi ngân hàng phải dự trữ thanh khoản đủ lớn dưới hình thứ nắm giữ những bộ phận tài sản có tính lỏng cao (như tiền mặt, chứng khoán ngắn hạn). Khi xuất hiện nhu cầu thanh khoản, ngân hàng cần bán các tài sản trên để lấy tiền đáp ứng đầy đủ nhu cầu thanh khoản.
