2.3.2. Giới hạn chịu lửa của cấu kiện xây dựng được xác định bằng khoảng thời gian (tính bằng phút) kể từ khi bắt đầu thử chịu lửa theo chế độ nhiệt tiêu chuẩn cho đến khi xuất hiện một hoặc một số dấu hiệu nối tiếp nhau của các trạng thái giới hạn được quy định đối với cấu kiện đã cho như sau:
- Mất khả năng chịu lực (khả năng chịu lực được ký hiệu bằng chữ R);
- Mất tính toàn vẹn (tính toàn vẹn được ký hiệu bằng chữ E);
- Mất khả năng cách nhiệt (khả năng cách nhiệt được ký hiệu bằng chữ I).
