Trong kết quả khảo sát về thói quen và đặc điểm mua sắm trực tuyến của người tiêu dùng Việt Nam, do ông Xavier Depouilly – Giám đốc phát triển kinh doanh và dịch vụ khách hàng của Kantar Media Vietnam - công bố tại Hội thảo quốc tế TMĐT Việt Nam 2010, Kanta đánh giá cao tiềm năng phát triển của TMĐT ở Việt Nam, căn cứ trên tỷ lệ 27% dân số truy cập Internet do Trung tâm Internet Việt Nam (VNNIC) công bố tại thời điểm khảo sát. Theo thông báo mới nhất của VNNIC, tính đến tháng 10/2010, số người sử dụng Internet ở Việt Nam đã đạt con số 26 triệu, chiếm hơn 30% tổng số gần 90 triệu dân của cả nước.
