Thông qua việc thực hiện Đề tài “Nghiên cứu phát triển và ứng dụng một số chế phẩm có nguồn gốc sinh học trong canh tác chè, cà phê, hồ tiêu theo hướng phát triển bền vững tại Tây Nguyên”, các nhà khoa học thuộc Trung tâm Phát triển công nghệ cao, Viện Hàn lâm KH&CN Việt Nam đã nghiên cứu, sản xuất các chế phẩm vi sinh vật chức năng cho 3 loại cây chủ lực ở Tây Nguyên là: chè (CHE-HTD 02); cà phê (CAFE-HTD 01) và hồ tiêu (HOTIEU-HTD 03) từ các chủng vi sinh vật có chức năng cố định đạm, sinh chất kích thích sinh trưởng, phân giải lân, được phân lập, tuyển chọn từ đất và rễ cây chè, cà phê, hồ tiêu tại Tây Nguyên.
