Bệnh nhân ung thư phụ khoa sau PTCTC phải đối mặt với một loạt các thách thức về tâm lý như lo lắng, giận dữ, tội lỗi và trầm cảm về bệnh; lo sợ về đau, hiệu quả của điều trị, khả năng tái phát và chết; những mối quan tâm về những thay đổi trong cuộc sống: kinh tế, việc làm, chăm sóc gia đình và các mối quan hệ xã hội…; mất cảm giác tình dục, mất nhận thức về nữ tính cũng góp phần tạo nên những cảm xúc tiêu cực ở những bệnh nhân này. Hodgkinson cùng cộng sự nghiên cứu trên 199 phụ nữ ung thư phụ khoa đã được phẫu thuật cho thấy có 29% lo lắng, 24% sợ hãi liên quan đến tái phát bệnh
