Hạ Long là một thắng cảnh thiên nhiên hùng vĩ không chỉ đối với riêng ai mà cả đất nước Việt Nam. Riêng tôi đến với Vịnh Hạ Long có một cảm giác vừa quen thuộc vừa xa lạ. Vịnh hạ long nắm ở vùng Đông Bắc Việt nam, là một phần phía tây Vịnh Bắc Bộ. Phái Tây Nam giáp với đảo Cát bà , phía tây giáp đất liền với đường bờ biển dài 120km. Vịnh hạ long là một di sản độc đáo bởi địa danh này chứa đựng những dấu tích quan trọng trong quá trình hình thành và phát triển, lịch sử trái đất, là tác phẩm nghệ thuật tạo hình, vĩ đại của thiên nhiên. Vịnh hạ long được đánh giá qua hai yếu tố : lịch sử kiến tạo và quá trình địa chất, địa mạo,. Đặc trưng cơ bản của vịnh hạ long 1000 năm qua là biển lấn mở rộng vịnh , xói lở ,cạnh các bãi bằng sú lẹt , nước Vịnh trong hơn, mặn hơn và san hô phát triển. Quá trình ăn mòn của nước biển tích cực tạo nên ngấn sâu làm thêm vẻ đẹp kỳ thú độc đáo của vịnh tầng Carxto. Những hang động chính là bằng chứng sinh động về quá trình xâm thực của mực nước biển qua các kỷ địa chất. Môi trường địa chất hạ long còn là nền tảng phát sinh các giá trị khác như đa dạng sinh học , văn hóa khảo cổ và các giá trị nhân văn khác . Trên cả một cảnh quan thiên nhiên hùng vĩ, Hạ Long mang lại cho tôi cái cảm giác yên bình như khi ở bên cạnh mẹ. Và chắc có lẽ đây là điều tuyệt vời nhất mà tôi nhận ra được khi người ta nhắc đến hạ long
