- Trong những năm gần đây, giáo dục tập trung thực hiện đẩy mạnh đổi mới nội dung và phương hướng dạy học. Triển khai có hiệu quả dạy học Ngoại ngữ theo chương trình mới. Tổ chức dạy học theo hướng hoạt động, phát huy tính tích cực, chủ động, sáng tạo của học sinh.
- Môn Tiếng Anh lại là một môn học độc lập, nó không giống như các môn học khác. Bởi vì ngoài giờ học trên lớp ra các em ít nhận được sự kèm cặp hay giúp đỡ nào từ phía gia đình. Nhất là ở trường tiểu học Đỗ Động, một xã thuộc vùng nông thôn mà hầu hết các bậc phụ huynh không biết tiếng Anh.
- Học sinh tiểu học là học sinh ở lứa tuổi từ 6 đến 11 tuổi. Các em còn nhỏ, cơ thể đang trong thời kỳ thay đổi, tính tình cũng hay thay đổi, thích tìm hiểu những cái chưa biết nhưng cũng nhanh quên, nhanh chán, dễ bị mất tập trung dẫn đến không muốn học.
Vậy để học sinh tiểu học tiếp thu và ghi nhớ tốt kiến thức đã học trên lớp phải có sự hào hứng và yêu thích môn học. Đặc biệt là môn Tiếng Anh, ngoài việc ghi nhớ nghĩa của từ ra các em còn phải nhớ cấu trúc
câu, nhớ cách đọc, nhớ các ký tự trong từ mình đã học. Chính vì vậy mà các em cho rằng việc học Tiếng Anh là một việc khó khăn đối với các em, gây cho các em một tâm lý sợ sệt, ngại nói, sợ sai. Các em còn thiếu tự tin vào khả năng của mình và các em đã gặp rất nhiều khó khăn trong khi học.
Để giúp học sinh tiểu học bước đầu làm quen với việc sử dụng và yêu thích môn tiếng Anh. Vậy người giáo viên phải tạo cho các em có được niềm say mê và hứng thú trong học tập thì phải đơn giản hóa nội dung sao cho phù hợp với lứa tuổi tiểu học, tạo cho các em một không khí học tập sôi nổi, vui vẻ và hào hứng, tích cực chủ động sáng tạo trong việc học. Muốn vậy thì người giáo viên phải đóng vai trò là người điều khiển, hướng dẫn giúp các em tiếp thu nhanh, nhớ lâu.
Chính vì vậy tôi đã lồng ghép các trò chơi vào bài giảng của mình nhằm giúp các em có hứng thú với tiết học tiếng Anh hơn.
