Văn Cao (15 tháng 11, 1923 – 10 tháng 7, 1995) là một nhạc sĩ Việt Nam nổi tiếng. Ông là tác giả của "Tiến quân ca", quốc ca của Việt Nam, đồng thời cũng là một trong những gương mặt quan trọng nhất của tân nhạc. Văn Cao còn là một họa sĩ, nhà thơ với nhiều tác phẩm giá trị.Thuộc thế hệ nhạc sĩ tiên phong, Văn Cao tham gia nhóm Đồng Vọng, sáng tác các ca khúc lãng mạn "Bến xuân", "Suối mơ", "Thiên Thai", "Trương Chi",... ghi dấu ấn trong lịch sử tân nhạc Việt Nam. Sau khi gia nhập Việt Minh, Văn Cao viết "Tiến quân ca", "Trường ca Sông Lô", "Tiến về Hà Nội",... trở thành nhạc sĩ tiêu biểu của dòng nhạc kháng chiến .Đến cuối thập niên 1980, những nhạc phẩm này mới được biểu diễn trở lại. Năm 1996, một năm sau khi mất, Văn Cao được tặng Giải thưởng Hồ Chí Minh trong đợt trao giải đầu tiên. Ông cũng đã được Nhà nước Việt Nam trao tặng Huân chương Kháng chiến hạng nhất, Huân chương Độc lập hạng ba, Huân chương Độc lập hạng nhất[1]

Tên ông cũng được đặt cho nhiều con phố đẹp ở Hà Nội, Thành phố Hồ Chí Minh, Hải Phòng, Huế, Đà Nẵng và Nam Định.[2]
