Tại huyện Hoa Lư, Phòng NN&PTNT huyện Hoa Lư đã triển khai đề tài "Xây dựng mô hình lúa - cá tại HTX nông nghiệp Chi Phong, xã Trường Yên" do 3 hộ của HTX nông nghiệp Chi Phong tham gia, với tổng diện tích 12,85 ha. Phòng NN&PTNT huyện đã hỗ trợ con giống cho các hộ tham gia mô hình với số lượng 13.550 con cá rô đồng giống, 49.800 con cá chép giống, 49.800 con cá trắm cỏ giống; tổ chức tập huấn, hướng dẫn các hộ về quy trình kỹ thuật nuôi cá rô đồng từ khâu cải tạo ao, thả giống, chăm sóc, quản lý ao nuôi và theo dõi các chỉ tiêu kinh tế - kỹ thuật để có cơ sở tổng kết đánh giá.
Trung tâm Khuyến nông - Khuyến ngư Ninh Bình đã triển khai mô hình ở 15 hộ ở huyện Nho Quan, Gia Viễn và thị xã Tam Điệp với diện tích 4 ha. Trong đó, xã Lai Sơn (huyện Nho Quan) và xã Gia Hòa (huyện Gia Viễn) được lựa chọn hình thức nuôi luân canh cá - lúa với đối tượng cá rô phi là chính; xã Yên Bình (TX Tam Điệp) và xã Gia Xuân (huyện Gia Viễn) được lựa chọn hình thức nuôi luân canh cá - lúa với đối tượng cá rô đồng là chính.
