Q1/2014, cả nước có 1045.5 nghìn người trong độ tuổi lao động thất nghiệp, tăng 145.8 nghìn người so với Q4/2013, tuy nhiên đã giảm 22.2 nghìn người so với Q1/2013. Trong số người thất nghiệp, có là 493 nghìn người là nữ (chiếm 47.2%), 546.7 nghìn người ở thành thị (chiếm 52.3%). Về tỷ lệ, Q1/2014 tỷ lệ thất nghiệp chung là 2.21%, tăng so với Q4/2013 (1.9%), tuy nhiên giảm nhẹ so với Q1/2013 (2.27%). Tỷ lệ thất nghiệp của nữ là 2.25%, cao hơn nam (2.17%). Tỷ lệ thất nghiệp thành thị là 3.72%, cao gấp 2.4 lần nông thôn (1.53%).
