Trước đây, những ngày lễ hội như valentine, lễ phục sinh, Hallowen…chỉ diễn ra ở các nước phương Tây, nhưng ngày nay những lễ hội đó được người dân Việt Nam và các quốc gia trên thế giới đón đợi, yêu thích, đặc biệt là thế hệ trẻ.
Lễ hội Hallowen không chỉ mang lại niềm vui, mà còn ẩn chứa ý nghĩa giáo dục, tính nhân văn đến cộng đồng, là sợi dây gắn kết các quốc gia trên thế giới.



Halloween hay còn gọi là Lễ hội Ma quỷ, diễn ra vào ngày 31/10 từ chiều cho đến 12 giờ đêm. Theo truyền thuyết, Halloween được cho là dịp các vị thần có thể tới thăm trái đất hay linh hồn người chết sẽ tìm vềthăm gia đình và gửi lại những lời nhắn tốt đẹp trong giấc mơ. Biểu tượng của Halloween là chiếc đèn lồng bí ngô của chàng Jack, phù thủy, ma quỷ và mèo đen.

Theo truyền thuyết của nước Ireland thì từ ngữ "Jack-ó-lanterns" đến từ một người có tên là Jack. Jack là một chàng thiếu niên đã chết nhưng linh hồn không được phép vào Thiên Đàng vì lúc sống, anh vốn là một người tham lam, bủn xỉn, thường cất giấu tiền bạc, keo kiệt không hề bố thí cho ai. Thế nhưng anh ta cũng không thể vào Địa Ngục vì lúc còn sống đã từng chơi đùa với ma quỷ, nên quỷ không bắt anh.



Chuyện kể rằng: có một con quỷ đến quấy phá một vùng dân cư, vì vậy người dân đã đến cầu cứu các vị tu sĩ đem các vật thánh đến "yểm" và "khóa các cửa" ra vào. Khi con quỷ bị bắt, Jack đã nhận ra đó là con quỷ thường vui đùa với mình và đã tìm cách gỡ vật "yểm ma quỷ" mở đường cho quỷ chạy thoát.



Để đền ơn cứu mạng, quỷ hứa với Jack là sẽ không bắt hồn Jack về Địa Ngục. Do đó, sau khi chết vì một tai nạn, hồn Jack bị Thiên Đường từ chối, xuống địa ngục thì quỷ không cho vào vì lời hứa trước. Thấy Jack khổ sở, quỷ bèn lấy một ít than hồng ở Địa Ngục bỏ vào trong ruột một quả bí ngô và đưa cho Jack để sưởi ấm trên đường trở lại trần gian. Để cho không khí thông vào nuôi lửa, Jack phải đục thủng quả bí ngô, ánh lửa từ trong đã chiếu ra soi sáng nẻo đường lang thang của Jack.



Lễ hội Halloween bắt nguồn từ đâu?
