Tham gia AFTA sẽ tạo sức ép và động lực để các doanh nghiệp Việt Nam đổi mới cơ cấu tổ chức, cách thức sản xuất, phương pháp quản lý để nâng cao chất lượng, hạ giá thành sản phẩm tăng sức cạch tranh nền kinh tế từ đó có cơ hội để phát triển công nghiệp, nông nghiệp, thương mại và dịch vụ tạo nên cơ cấu kinh tế thích hợp. Trong tổng kim ngạch xuất khẩu của Việt Nam sang ASEAN hiện nay, tỷ trọng hàng công nghiệp chế biến mới chỉ đạt 18%, nông sản thực phẩm 48%, nhiên liệu 34%. Trong đó trọng tâm ưu đãi của chương trình CEPT lại là các mặt hàng công nghiệp chế biến. Việc thực hiện chương trình CEPT sẽ là cơ hội để Việt Nam chuyển dịch cơ cấu xuất khẩu theo hướng nâng cao tỷ trọng hàng công nghiệp chế biến, giảm dần tỷ trọng các mặt hàng thô, sơ chế. Đây cũng là cơ hội để Việt Nam tổ chức lại sản xuất theo mô hình chuyển dịch cơ cấu kinh tế hướng tới xuất khẩu.

This is also an opportunity for Vietnam to reorganize production in the model of economic restructuring towards export.
