Bài luận kết hợp GIS và viễn thám để dự báo nước biển dâng cho các khu vực ven biển. Phần mềm ArcGIS 10.1 được sử dụng để mô hình hóa vùng ngập từ dữ liệu ảnh DEM SRTM, ảnh Landsat 8 từ đó tính toán các thông số đánh giá kinh tế - xã hội như số dân, diện tích,... bị ảnh hưởng do NBD ở TP Hải Phòng. Kết quả phân tích cho thấy diện tích vùng ở Hải Phòng chỉ ở mức độ trung bình (chiếm 5% diện tích toàn TP). TP Hải Phòng là một trong ba đô thị lớn của Việt Nam với mật độ dân số đông (gấp 4 lần cả nước) và diện tích đất nông nghiệp lớn (chiếm khoảng 50% tổng diện tích), vì vậy mặc dù diện tích ngập không lớn nhưng cũng sẽ gây ảnh hưởng đáng kể đến con người cũng như phúc lợi xã hội.
