Một số nghiên cứu gần đây đã chứng minh về mức độ ảnh hưởng của khả năng nhận thức đến quyết định tham gia thị trường chứng khoán. Benjamin, Brown và Shapiro (2006) [36] thu thập dữ liệu từ cuộc khảo sát quốc gia về thanh niên năm 1979 và kết hợp với các câu hỏi phỏng vấn đã tìm ra mối tương quan mạnh mẽ giữa khả năng nhận thức và khả năng tích lũy tài sản ròng dương. Các tác giả cũng chỉ ra rằng, những người trả lời thông minh thường có xu hướng tham gia nhiều hơn vào thị trường chứng khoán.
