Tiến hành tìm hiểu giao thức khởi tạo phiên SIP; tìm hiểu giao thức truyền tải thời gian thực RTP và giao thức UDP; tìm hiểu một số chuẩn mã hóa âm thanh và video; và cuối cùng là triển khai thực hiện bản demo ứng dụng cuộc gọi video giữa hai máy điện thoại trên nền tảng ngôn ngữ lập trình android.
Tiếp theo là tiến hành đi sâu vào tìm hiểu giao thức truyền tải thời gian thực RTP, là một giao thức cung cấp các chức năng giao vận phù hợp cho các ứng dụng truyền dữ liệu mang đặc tính thời gian thực như là thoại và truyền hình tương tác. Cùng với đó là tiến hành tìm hiểu về giao thức UDP, là giao thức hướng thông điệp nhỏ nhất của tầng giao vận. Cả hai giao thức RTP và UDP tạo nên một phần chức năng của giao thức tầng giao vận.
Với đối tượng là âm thanh và hình ảnh, song song quá trình tìm hiểu lý thuyết là tiến hành mã hóa/giải mã hóa theo chuẩn nén ưu việt và được phổ biến hiện nay đó là các chuẩn nén H.263, H.264 và G.711U, G.711A nhằm tối ưu băng thông, nâng cao tốc độ truyền.
